Operators need to check the following 2 items:
1) Number of transactions came through their payment gateway last month.
2) The number of transactions that were actually processed sent to the bank.
Conversion ratios matter when real transactions are blocked. Almost all payment processors block suspicious transactions with online checks and verification systems.
Hovever, offline checks, dedicated risk managers who manually review each blocked transaction, can really make the difference in the bottom line.
While 2009 is going to be a challenging year for merchants everywhere - every dollar counts and every transaction matters. Potential revenue should be examined.
