Off topic: An impressive article in Wired Magazine on a guy that wanted to beat the 1983 Cannonball Run record of 32 hours and 7 minutes:
(For those from outside North America: The Cannonball Run is a driving competition for speed. The winner makes the fastest time driving from New York City to Los Angeles. It is not endorsed . In order to win, a driver would have to break speed limit laws. Avoiding police on the highway is key to winning....'unofficially' :-) The best record time is 32 hours and 7 minutes. )
The driver used every tech gadget you can imagine. There's all sorts of new stuff you can place on your car these days. Thermal Imaging systems to detect police vehicles on the side of the road....anti photo covers for license plates (illegal in Florida, Ohio, Illinois and New York :-( ) and other gadgets.
If you want to remember owning a car during your college years and taking road trips that involve speed.....this is a good read for you.
