Match Group Q4 Results - Annual Revenue $2.1B
MATCH GROUP - Feb 4 - Match Group total Q4 revenue grew 20% YOY to $547M. The number of subscribers increased 19% to 9.8M, up from 8.2M in Q4 2018. Tinder subscribers were 5.9M in Q4 2019, up 36% YOY. Tinder direct revenue grew 39% YOY. Operating income was $180M, up 19% YOY. Full year 2019 revenue reached $2.1B, up 19% YOU. Tinder 2019 revenue was up 43% YOY - $1.2B. Operating income was up 17% YOY - $649M.
Matrimony Reports Q3 Billings Growth of 7.4%
MATRIMONY.COM - Feb 5 - Matrimony.com, the leading online matrimony company in India, has released its Q3 2019 financial results.
Key financial highlights for the quarter ended December 31, 2019
- Billing at Rs 91.9 crores (~$13M), (growth of 4.3% q/q and 7.4% y/y)
- Revenue at Rs 90 crores (~$12.6M), (down 2.4 % q/q and growth of 5.6 y/y)

New Pew Report: 30% of U.S. Adults Have Used Online Dating
TECH CRUNCH - Feb 7 - According to a new Pew Research Center report on online dating, 30% of U.S. adults have at some point used a dating app. That's up from ~11% in 2013. 12% of U.S. adults said they found a long-term relationship via online dating. Younger adults were more likely to be using online dating apps than older adults. LGB adults were twice as likely as straight adults to have used a dating app. In addition, a majority of users reported an overall positive experience with online dating. However a significant portion of U.S. adults (46%) said they don't think it's safe. Pew's research was conducted from Oct 16 to 28, 2019 across a panel of 4,860 respondents.
Tinder to Add New Features Including Filters, Text and Photo Prompts
TECH CRUNCH - Feb 7 - Tinder is expanding users' filtering capabilities. There would be both free and paid options available. In addition, Tinder will also soon roll out new social engagement features, which the company describes as a way for users "to express themselves and show their interests". These would involve a set of text and photo prompts that encourage people to be more thoughtful with their conversations. The prompts are expected to arrive in Q1 2020. Tinder has also confirmed that its in-app, choose-your-own-adventure style story called Swipe Night will roll out to ten new markets this quarter, in parts of Europe and Asia.

OKCupid's International Expansion
YAHOO FINANCE - Feb 4 - OKCupid has recently been pushing into international markets by offering a more tailored type of online matchmaking, based on each country’s cultural norms and predilections. In India, a testing ground for OKCupid, downloads increased by 1.4M in the three months ended September 2019, outpacing Bumble and local Indian dating app Shaadi. Recently, OKCupid set its sights on Israel and Turkey, and will soon be launching in Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and the UK. Match Group, which declined to break out OKCupid results individually, saw direct international revenue rise 32% in the most recent quarter, or more than double its growth rate in North America.
