SNAP Terminates Merger Agreement With LiveXLive Media

ACCESSWIRE - Nov 1 - The merger agreement was terminated by SNAP due to certain conditions of the agreement that were not fulfilled as of October 27, 2017, which relieved SNAP of its obligations under the agreement. SNAP entered into the agreement in September. The purchase price was ~$34M consisting of ~$20.4M in cash and ~$13.6M in shares of LiveXLive common stock. Snap Interactive will move forward as a stand-alone entity.

Paktor Names New CEO

PE HUB - Oct 27 - Paktor Group, a Southeast Asia dating app provider, has appointed Ng Jing Shen as CEO. Jing Shen will succeed Joseph Phua. Also, Paktor has promoted Shn Juay to COO. Prior to co-founding Paktor app, Jing Shen was a software engineer at Amazon.com in Seattle. Juay joined the Paktor Group in 2015 as head of marketing. Paktor is backed by K2Global and MNC Media Group.

Bumble's New HQ And New Networking App

FOX35ORLANDO - Nov 4 - Dating app Bumble continues to grow and now has a new headquarters in Austin and a new networking app Bumble Bizz. Bumble Bizz follows the same concept as the dating portion of the app. Users swipe if they're interested in someone and if it's a women to man match the woman has to be the first to send a message. If users don't reach out to a match in 24 hours the match expires. After launching less than three years ago, Bumble now has ~21M users. They have teams in London, France, Germany and Australia. They're looking into Canada.

OFF RCRD - Nov 4 - Sean Rad spoke to Cory Levy who is an entrepreneur, investor and thought leader on tech startups and entrepreneurship. Before Tinder, Sean started email service Orgoo and Adly, a celebrity-marketing company. He sold Adly right when the iPhone came out. He started learning and experimenting with other projects on mobile which he never launched. "The hard part is actually really clarifying the problem, having a clear vision how you want to solve it. The easier problem has always been finding the people or the tools that can help build that," he said. He was inspired to launch Tinder after he was in a coffee shop and didn't have the courage to speak to a girl because he was scared of rejection. The early version of Tinder was created in 24h during a weekend hackathon.

Indian Dating App Inclov Is Helping Disabled People To Find Their Love Match

FORBES - Nov 1 - Launched in 2016, the app, which has ~19k registered users, has so far helped ~6k disabled people to meet their spouses. "Our algorithm matches on the basis of someone's level of dependence, cure availability, medications and therapy for their disabilities," says Inclov's co-founder Kalyani Khona. It's not surprising that Inclov has found resonance in a country where 59% women and 48% men refuse to marry anyone with a physical disability, and disabled people are considered ineligible to marry those without disabilities unless "adjusted" by high dowry. In September, Inclov, which plans to expand to other countries in coming years, raised an undisclosed amount in its pre-Series A funding round from a clutch of investors.

Jack'd Attacks Grindr For Racist Profiles

ADVOCATE - Oct 27 - Grindr is being accused by competitor Jack'd of doing too little to stop racism on its platform. Jack'd is pushing a new video on its social media and issued a news release calling out Grindr for including member profiles with messages like "No blacks, no Asians." Other profiles say they prefer white men. Jack'd called the problem "rampant."
