great article Marc. Really looking forward to hearing him speak and possibly meeting with him. What i admire most about him is that he learned from the setback , matured, moved on and focused on what he was good at.

Agreed - He's a great guy. His voice mail when you call him says "Leave good news after the beep and bad news before the beep."

As for his experiences, He showed me the office. He showed me where Match.com started in 1994. It was a super cool experience.

I'll tell you when I see you guys in Miami.

PRESS RELEASE

Gary Kremen to keynote at the iDate Dating Industry Super Conference on January 23-30, 2012 in Miami

Online Dating and Internet Dating Industry creator Gary Kremen (founder of Match.com) will present on the morning of January 24 at the iDate2012 SuperConference. Since 2004, iDate attracts dating industry CEOs to the event.

WEBWIRE – Tuesday, January 10, 2012 - New York, NY--Ticonderoga Ventures, Inc. announces that Gary Kremen, the founder of Match.com will keynote the Internet Dating Industry Super Conference . The event takes place on January 23-30, 2012 in Miami Beach.

Gary Kremen is a leading Silicon Valley entrepreneur. In 1991 Gary co-founded (with Ben Dubin of Asset Management) Full Source Software, the world’s first open source software company. In 1993 Kremen invented Internet dating, founding Match.com . He wrote the original business plan, recruited the first 20 employees, raised angel and venture capital and lead the company as CEO and Chairman into high growth and revenue. Gary then co-founded NetAngels, which he merged with Firefly Network (first in collaborative filtering), which was then purchased by Microsoft for a reported $40m purchase price.

He also registered several premiere domain names in the early days of the Internet, including Jobs.com, Housing.com, Autos.com, and other ’dictionary word’ domains.

The conference also coincides with the Social Media Conference, also taking place in Beverly Hills on the same days. Those that register to one event are able to attend both.
